This half-day event will explore the opportunities available to improve the productivity and competitiveness of Toronto region’s manufacturing industry, including those related to technology adoption, green manufacturing, precision manufacturing, and management and transition of IP. Speakers include government officials, industry leaders, operations and supply consultants, law experts, and leading innovators. Building off of the Federal Black Entrepreneurship Program, this event will examine the progress of the Black Entrepreneurship Ecosystem as partners continue to collaborate to improve and amplify the Black business community. Discussion topics will include: strategies to overcome organizational barriers, effective networking techniques, and other business development strategies. The event will address how the Black Entrepreneurship Program funds are spent throughout the Black business community.

Energy Forum: Competing in the age of decarbonization (Mississauga)

Building on a historic string of investment in electric vehicles, clean steel and critical mineral sectors, provincial and federal governments have rolled out new program incentives to support grid resiliency, leverage the value of our clean electricity grid and accelerate adoption of new manufacturing technologies. The event will showcase success stories and will discuss Insights on the latest energy research, trends, and incentives. The keynote speaker is the Honourable Todd Smith, Minister of Energy.

Indigenous Women in Business (Online)

This event is designed for early stage, women-identifying Indigenous entrepreneurs. The featured speakers are Kimberly Gorgichuk: Indigenous Women and Youth Program Officer, NACCA and Ashley Richard: Associate Director, Indigenous, WEKH. As part of the Startup Women 2023 program, Startup Canada will facilitate industry-specific advisory circles once a month between February and November. Hosted by Isabel Nolan, Program Lead for Startup Women, these sessions will feature expert talks from late-stage founders, a panel discussion with support organizations within the industry and networking breakout rooms with attendees and speakers. This close-door, virtual meetup will give women all across Canada a sense of community and support.

Summer Global Economic Outlook (Online)

Rapidly changing global events, paired with limited resources and rising interest rates, can make it challenging to manage business growth. This event will review EDC Economics’ latest analysis on the international business environment, including growth for key economies, commodity prices, interest rates and exchange rates. The event will also share EDC Economics’ energy outlook on key commodities, the prospects for recovery in both developed and emerging markets, how rapidly changing global events are shaping the global economic outlook, and central banks’ monetary policy decisions and the implications for exporters.

Keiretsu Forum Canada is a designated Startup Visa program. #NGBIdeas is an annual Life Sciences innovation summit in support of Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation that brings together industry leaders and scaling start-ups from across Canada. The summit features short talks about the path that researchers and businesses taking and the innovations underway. Following each talk, a start-up founder working on that topic discussed will share their company’s journey and impact on the life sciences economy.
